it led to a lot of things

producing a doodling from missing my friends and teachers in Cambodia
led to a lot of different things, although this one was more influenced by my grandpa who passed away while i was still in New Zealand.
It's a painting i've done after the screen printing.

It's very thick, i squeezed out white paint straight on to the canvas without using a brush.
I think i used an entire tube of white oil paint.
i did use a paint brush to do the background, though.

at one point the tube got constipated but julie banana cheered me on throughout.

this painting travelled from New Zealand to Japan, and then to Korea.
It suffered from jet lag a bit.

thank you for looking after it so well until it reached Korea.
the painting really liked you, and was sad to leave your house.

I missed them

In high school a bunch of my friends and teachers went off to Cambodia to build houses.
I wasn't part of it so I stayed in school, and the space never felt so empty.
I missed them terribly and from that, I got agitated.
Became very restless.
Before I noticed I was doodling on a piece of paper -
during class, lunch and free periods, I kept drawing and drawing.
And that led to these.

without Julie Banana's enthusiasm I would have never blown colours into a doodling that was in black sharpie pen.
Screen printing was real fun.
And when they came back from Cambodia, life became real fun again.

swimming in a circle

last year my boyfriend's parents gave me a voucher
from an artshop for my birthday.
so in return, i've done a painting for them.

It's hung on the wall, beside very warm family photos.
The fish are happy.

after the rain

me, a lamppost, and pigeons sunbathing, on the playful grass
in front of the State Library, after a long rain.

high up there

A Current Affair is a very annoying TV show
and there's a rice cracker ad which is completely in Japanese
and I want to climb a tree.

There was a ghost in the dark room when I was developing this photo.
A very friendly one.

box for shiny stuff

a jewellery box i painted for my boyfriend's mum's birthday last year.
i bought too much acrylic paint and now i don't know what to do with them.
not my favourite material for canvas painting.
maybe i should paint another boring wooden thing.

human pesticide

an artwork i never finished
which is forever gone.
